Yesterday’s Smuggled Shots
As promised, I got copies before they were taken down and am mirroring them here.
The NEF’s do not open in CaptureNX and I’ve read they do open in ViewNX but haven’t tried them.
The last several are from a D200 for comparison. Also note that the NEF’s are 10+ megabyte in size (LARGE!) and the JPG’s are 4-6meg (also large).

I would love to see D300 Shots compared.

Me too!!! We all know the D3 will be awesome. I want D300 samples to see if it is worth the price difference over the D200. I can get a recertified D200 for $1250.

[...] Nikon Watch has some D3 smuggled shots. NEF files you can only open with ViewNX. ISO1600 is nice and clean, ISO3200 is very good, with color noise, and ISO6400 is usable. NEFs are definately not as clean as the JPGs. The ISO25600 looks like my D70 at 1600. 6400 ISO shot is underexposed 2/3 stops compared to the other shots (all at f/3.2 with the 85/1.8D). more [...]

I opened the .NEF’s with Niew NX. 1600 looks real smooth. But I’m with the others above. I am very curious about the D300’s performance. If the D300 at 800 ISO looks like the D3 at 1600 ISO I will be very happy .
