I’m currently in a workshop with a highly regarded nature photographer. He’s used the D3 and had a number of things to say about it – none of which would be “news” here.

What surprised me is that he said out loud during the workshop that the 24MP Nikon FX body will be out “next May,” and confirmed that the physical platform is the same as the D3. The “May” date may be the “announce” date. No speculation about possible price.

Since Nikon Corp staff participate here, I won’t mention his name, even though he didn’t
specify that the information was covered by an NDA. But anyone who shoots
nature/landscape/wildlife would recognize the name as an insider who is “in a position
to know.”

I think it’s safe to conclude that the controlled leak process is operating as
efficiently as ever.
