I just report ‘em:

Heard this today: The Nikon D3X will be released in late 2009 and will replace the D3. There will be a FF 24mp sensor with 6fps and a builtin DX mode with 12MP and 10fps.

I don’t buy it- the likelihood that they can make a 24mp sensor that has similar noise characteristics to the D3’s chip seems extremely low to me.

I think it’d be more likely to see a hybrid- 12mp at LOW noise, HIGH ISO, or 24mp at higher noise and you choose on the fly.
