		<description>I doubt $800. I think most people see this as Nikon&#039;s answer to Canon&#039;s 17-85 IS. It will make a great kit lens option, probably replacing the 18-70mm. 

I am still of two minds about whether this is real. 

One one hand, it was totally unexpected and it&#039;s very difficult to believe Nikon would let an unannounced lens slip this far out into the public view. Some might argue it&#039;s a clever marketing move, but I don&#039;t think so. The 18-55VR just started shipping. This news will most likely stop sales of that lens dead. 

On the other hand, a 16-85VR makes sense, especially against the Canon model. Maybe some crazy Nikon product tester went insane and prematurely revealed a lens that was supposed to be announced with the D90.

If it is a photoshopped 18-200VR, someone went to an awful lot of expense to intricately doctor several photos from various angles. 

So a tentative hats off to Nikon, but if it cost $800, I would tell them where they can stick it.</description>
