D60 Replaces the D40x? Part 2

Hey- remember this post that I’d actually forgotten about?

According to the EXIF data in these shots, they were shot with the new D60.

I’m having a hard time believing that the D40x goes away, I’m guessing the D60 is a secondary model, but who knows what Nikon’s got in mind?

Also- Ken says it’s coming on Jan 31st:

Moving downmarket, it will come in silver paint as well as professional black. Please get the black.

It will replace the D40. It’s got a somewhat newer, cleaner looking body and weighs even less.

I expect the D60 to sell for about $599 for the body alone.

It uses the modern EN-EL3e battery.

The monitor is a new 2.7″ LCD.

I expect it to the same 10MP sensor as the D80 (standard DX sensor size) and 2.5 FPS. Image quality will match the D80 and D200, with a lower price and a few less features.

On the other hand, a “very reliable source” says Spring 2008…

The pictures were taken in 2006, so if you read the exif info: they were taken by FUJI PHOTO FILM CO., LTD. Model SP-3000. Sorry!!!
