PMA 2008- New PC, New Macro, New Consumer SLR/Lens, Some Coolpix’s…
Finally I can dispense with the Amazing Stories graphics and bust out the Nippon Kogaku intense yellow Nikon logo.
PMA 2008, Yesterday, Nikon announces:
AF-S MICRO NIKKOR 60MM F/2.8G ED
WIDE-ANGLE PC-E NIKKOR 24MM F/3.5D ED LENS
Well score several for the rumors! There’s nothing new here- amazing!
Does the D60 replace the D40/40x? The press release doesn’t seem to say much. I don’t follow the lower-end SLR’s enough to have much idea one way or another.
A new macro lens sounds tasty. I realized last night that every time I’m shooting a macro scene with my 105mm, I’ve got to stand about 3 feet back, which the 60mm would fix with its .6′ close-focus. I like the f/2.8 also. AF-S would also make it focus a lot quicker than the 105mm.
The new PC lens should make some pro’s happy: “A special tilt/shift mechanism gives users up to +/- 11.5 mm shift and +/- 8.5-degree tilt for perspective control.”
And a new consumer-grade lens that I seem to recall seeing somewhere else…
Oh, and apparently, there are some new CoolPix’s in various colors or something.
