RIP Polaroid Instant Film…
We very well knew him- whether he was in our Hassel-back to check the exposure on our lighting setup (back in the film-only) days, or when he was being used to take pictures of subjects that we’d prefer, ahem, to not have to send to the lab for development.

He was expensive and gave poor results but delivered exactly what was required- immediacy. Unfortunately, digital isn’t expensive, can deliver great, and is even more immediate.
Later dude…

“He was expensive and gave poor results” Expensive, sure no argument there. But poor results? Have you ever shot Type 55 in a 4×5 view camera? Incredible tonality and a negative to boot.
Also check out the now out of print “Polaroid Land Photography” by Ansel Adams. I know Adams did work for Polaroid to promote the media, but the images he created with it are anything but poor.
