A DX crop of 12 Mp needs a Full Frame of 28 Mp: Surfaces: DX: 23.7mm x 15.6mm = 369.72 mm² Full Frame: 36mm x 23.9mm = 860.4 mm² Full frame is 860.4/369.72 = 2.33 times the space So it must be 2.32 times the resolution 12Mp x 2.33 = 27.96 Mp It’s true… A DX crop of 12 Mp needs a Full Frame of 28 Mp:

Surfaces:
DX: 23.7mm x 15.6mm = 369.72 mm²
Full Frame: 36mm x 23.9mm = 860.4 mm²

Full frame is 860.4/369.72 = 2.33 times the space

So it must be 2.32 times the resolution 12Mp x 2.33 = 27.96 Mp
