D3 Sensor – Mega-Technical Efficiency Report
So there’s this guy on dpReview- apparently, he’s an optics guy and he runs a lot of tests that try to determine the “quantum efficiency” and electron-capacity of the sensor wells for the D3 and other cameras.
Not being a physics guy, I can’t tell if this is all BS or true, but I’ll assume it’s true because no one has contradicted him so far (maybe we’re all hood-winked…)
His lastest post is here and the only interesting part to me is:
The full well at ISO 200 is about 73,000 electrons, which is higher and more reasonable IMHO to what Emil got with limited data.
How you calculate that by taking pictures and running them through stats packages, I’ll never understand.
