Sony 24MP a900 Due August or September? Where’s my D3x?
Well look, if Sony (according to Engadget) can get out the 24MP a900 in September-ish, then how far behind can the D3x be?
Surely, it’s all marketing, but if Sony releases first, then it doesn’t look all that hot that Canon, and EVEN SONY/Minolta-Konica have a high-resolution 25-ish megapixel or similar sensor!
To keep Sony from scooping them, I’m wondering if Nikon might not put out a D3x before then?
Any HOW REFRESHING it is to see a company telling us what the hell they’re up to and roughly when!
This is the only camera store that NikonWatch trusts- never any hassle, gimmicks, or problems:

So where did this “picture” of the “D3X” come from.
I don’t think that Nikon is seriously worried about Sony scooping them. Their only real competitor, aside from Hasselblad and other medium format folks, is Canon.
To use this kind of a camera effectively for studio work, catalog shots, etc., you need a whole bunch of “infrastructure” which Sony doesn’t have. Like a bunch of lenses, the equivalent of the CLS and the SB-800, etc., etc.
Even if Sony were to announce all that, do they have the credibility that they can deliver all that on schedule and with full reliability? (Witness the recent Canon auto-focus problems.)
If a pro already has those Nikon lenses, flash, etc., he might need to buy the D3X and may be 1-2 lenses, AND sell his Hasselblad.
If a pro currently uses Canon, he is far more likely to switch to Nikon than some unknown.
Just my two cents. Anyone have a different opinion?

You want the D3x. I want to see the D300Fx. I am waiting for the full frame D300 model.
