Supply Shortages

Adam’s got a beef with Nikon’s supply lines:

[Matt,] Was wondering what is up with the lack of stock of TC’s.

Ordered a 2TCII 2 months ago from my fav dealer in Canada, Bent’s Photo in Waterloo, Ont. …wanted to upgrade to a 1.4TCII and 2TCII, but no stock in Canada at their warehouse? No retailer has a 2x TCII.

No one else seems to have notic… oh wait Thom’s also got a problem:

Yes, I understand that parts are in short supply due to the rapid growth in the DSLR market. Still, I wouldn’t tolerate such behavior from my auto dealer, and I don’t think we should tolerate it from camera manufacturers, either. Nikon’s current policy shows that they do not value working relationships with professionals (let alone consumers).

I have to agree with Thom on this one- I’ve seen too many messages from people around the globe saying they’re trying to get X (70-200, 50mm, battery charger) and not able to find one in a reasonably quick fashion.

What’s going on? Nikon’s newer Thai plant doesn’t seem to have helped either. Can they really be selling so many cameras the everything seems to be sold out of various periods of time?

I am from Hong Kong. In here, the only shortage from Nikon is 24-70 F2.8.
