I just called one of my local camera shops in Toronto and the sales person said that with the Olympics coming up Nikon is running low on lots of equipment, which offers at least a partial explanation for the notice from Nikon Australia that included a number of long telephoto lenses. Maybe they really are just out of stock at the present time. That isn't to say that the current 85mm isn't going to be EOL'd, just that there may be other explanations for its absence. Just my 2c CDN (now worth ~ 2c US!)
