Nikon has been pretty consistent with it's model levels. The D70 and D80 inherited the sensor from the D100 and D200 respectively-- but without the expensive hardware-- namely, the metal body, meter coupling, high fps processor, PC sync, etc. What they have NOT done is capriciously shut off capabilities in software to protect higher-end cameras-- I have a lot of respect for Nikon because of that policy..

Given that, I don't expect manual lens metering, weather sealing, or 8 fps on the D90. However, I do expect liveview and ISO 6400,... and certainly an AF motor and Commander Mode. Some time later, I expect Nikon to offer the same sensor in an even cheaper body similar to the D60.

If the D90 followed the D60 design, I would view that as Nikon destroying a segment of their market... and would be very disappointed.

Does it still have the D80's internal AF motor? I want to upgrade from my D40x for that reason alone. I really like my 50mm/f1.8 lens but I have a hard time using manual focus with it.
