CaptureNX 2 – Totally Lacks Zazz

I’ve been using Nikon’s CaptureNX 2 all day long and I’m frankly about as unimpressed as I was with version 1.x. I don’t know what they’re concentrating on but it’s definitely not workflow.

I think they’re trying to turn it into a lamer version of Photoshop Elements, but it’s not even PaintShop Pro at this point.

* It still doesn’t use Windows metaphors (I don’t know if it’s mac-y on the Mac, but I doubt that too).

* Adjust your whitebalance- then change some other settings and your whitebalance is back where it was before?! STILL?! Why hasn’t this been fixed yet?

*Why am I sitting here waiting for an image to be sent to my printer? Why isn’t this threaded out?

Btw- to get pedantic, it’s should be “process”, not “progress”.

*Still can’t open more than 20 images. How about you let ME worry about how much my machine can handle?! I’m on a high-end machine!

*With a -30- in monitor (2560×1600)- there’s finally enough realestate to do what I need to do.

* It might just be me- but the raw settings have been moved around and I’m finding it harder to find them than when I was new to V1.

It’s time Nik and Nikon admit that this experiement is dead- customers hate paying for the ability to manipulate their RAW’s (thankfully, it was included with the D3, but that didn’t help me with my D2x), and it just needs to be a Photoshop plug-in.

Just so you know, adultswim videos can’t be seen outside of the US – bah. I get a message saying they know it sucks but they can’t do anything about this.

I would love to love NX but it’s simply too slow and cumbersome. And overpriced. Shame.
